Modern Chihuahuas hail from Chihuahua, Mexico. They are the dog breed along with the earliest North American strain. They rocketed to fame in the U.S when famous Latin celebrity Xavier Cugat created a Chihuahua his continuous people companion, and stay extremely popular for this day.
